Les Francofolies in La Rochelle
Les Francofolies de la Rochelle music festival will return this July, to celebrate and promote the great music of France. Since the festivals creation in 1985 as an initiative of Jean-Louis Foulquier, all styles of French music have been welcomed to La Rochelle, from soul and funk, to hip-hop, electro, blues and rock.
With more than 250 concerts in eight different venues programmed across five days and nights, there is plenty to keep the most enthusiastic festival-goers entertained. Previous years have seen concerts from household names Johnny Hallyday, Cali, Raphael, Olivia Ruiz, Rover, M but also Archive, Vitalic…
2016 lineup includes Mika, Aaron, Ibrahim Maalouf, Caravan Palace, Lilly Wood and the Prick, Louane, Louise Attaque, Marina Kaye, Nekfeu, Jain.
Set in the historic town of La Rochelle, more than half of the concerts are free making it easy to combine sight-seeing with soaking up the festival atmosphere. 180,000 spectators are expected over the course of the festival, it is important to book accommodation before you arrive but good transport links mean that you can stay outside La Rochelle and travel in to the festival easily.
