Le Voyage à Nantes
Le voyage à Nantes (A Journey to Nantes) will see forty historical and modern sites around the city of Nantes come together to form an interactive artistic and poetic trail. Under the direction of Jean Blaise, for two months, venues across Nantes will host exhibitions and installations by artists, architects, designers and gardeners which can traced and followed by a green line running along the ground.
Unexpected parts of the city will undergo a creative transformation, 2016’s quirky event will feature a mini golf course as you’ve never seen it before. The main campsite designed by visual artist Jean Bonichon, will be transformed into an exciting golf course, with a giant 4 meter high inverted balloon marking the start of the course. Other eccentric highlights include an planetarium, a large, 12 meter high mechanical elephant which 50 visitors can hitch a ride on, A giant spider, 4.5 meters high, powered by machinery and puppetry will crawl around the Les Machines de l’île gallery. The trail will host back to back events, celebrating the opening with an extraordinary night party. Temporary installations will pop up in public places and venues will display works, unknown treasures of Nantes will be bought to light whilst well known spots will be highlighted and re imagined. click here to view the program.
