Jazz festival in Marciac
Every August the village of Marciac hosts one of the world’s finest jazz festivals. Nestled in the green countryside of Gers, in Southwestern France, it is a relaxed and friendly place where you can also enjoy delicacies such as foie gras or duck confit and sample excellent wines from the appellations Saint-Mont and Madiran.
The 39th edition of Jazz in Marciac will be an event to remember. The festival will celebrate top jazz performers including the acclaimed artists Jamie Cullum, Dianne Reeves and Hugh Coltman and an exclusive performance by Pianist Ahmad Jamal, who will play his only concert of 2016 for the festival.
Other highlights of the event include Latin jazz artists David Sanchez, Michel Camilo, Gonzalo Rubalcaba and Roberto Fonseca, the famous pop artist Yaron Herman and “M”, saxophone aficionado Stefano Di Battistarecent, Grammy winners, guitarist John Scofield and the non‑conformist collective Snarky Puppy, and last but not least Marciac´s resident performer of 20 years, Wynton Marsalis.
