Degas: A New Vision
Degas’s respect for the old masters of Ingres and Delacroix inspired his scenes and characters. His observation of life in Paris, Normandy and even New Orleans impacted on his choice of topics. His media encompassed not only his painting and drawing, but print-making, sculpture and photography. Degas: A New Vision explores the artist’s endless variation and innovation of motifs, viewing his career as a work in progress. More than 200 art pieces from dozens of collections include scenes of work, industry, ballet, theatre, racetracks and boudoirs. “A fresh and dynamic reappraisal of this legendary artist’s genius”.
