To de-stress. To take mind off of work. To escape the everyday patterns of life. According to a recent survey, these reasons account for over 40% of UK travelers’ motivations. This is exactly where wellness retreats come to our rescue.
“In a cozy and intimate atmosphere, The Happy Hamlet is ideal for those who appreciate the luxury of a completely decision-free stay surrounded by blooming nature and charm. It is a special hideaway in the sunny southwestern French countryside and it has become the go-to spot with delicious local food and wines to discover.”
They host a variety of wellness retreats led by inspiring instructors, ranging from yoga and pilates to arts and crafts, from food and wine to self-discovery and even a French language course.
The perfect escape to the French countryside.
Feel at home away from home
Suska and Nicolas, a Finnish/Czech – French couple, knew from the beginning they didn’t want to run a typical B&B business. First and most importantly, they wanted to create a home for themselves, but also a home to be shared with others. It took them over 15,000 miles on the road where they visited 86 properties in nearly 20 departments in the South of France before they found their piece of heaven. Though it was mostly in ruins, it was the paradise they had dreamt of.
A Hamlet Retreat is always all-inclusive. The guests feel at home, without having any obligations. It is the time and place where their guests can forget their wallet, forget the time, and forget every single to-do list. It is the time to nourish their own well-being. Between the meals, guests can help themselves to a snack or a drink in the open plan kitchen, the vegetables in the garden, and the fruits in the many trees. If the hammock tucked under the tree is more appealing, then it’s exactly what one should do!
The property offers many secret spots for relaxing. The location offers over 30 acres of land that is superb for walks and hikes. The natural swimming pool is chemical-free and gives the sensation of swimming in fresh lake water and you must try out the sauna.
Medieval villages, farmer’s markets and vineyards to explore…
Located in a rather untouched area of France and literally “in the middle of nowhere”, the Hamleters help in discovering the region few have visited before. Guests can, for example, tour the surrounding medieval villages, farmers’ markets and vineyards. This happens to be the primary Malbec region of France (appellation Cahors), and the tastings with local winemakers make for a delightful excursion.
The property lies an hour north of Toulouse, 2 hours from Bordeaux, and 2.5 hours from the Atlantic ocean, the Mediterranean sea, and the Pyrenees mountains.
“Once you arrive you never ever want to leave! The most beautiful place, the most warm-hearted and kind hosts, the most caring service, the most delicious food.. I still miss those tomatoes from the garden! French farmhouse living at its best. I will be back!” (Guest feedback, 2017) – click here for more reviews.
