Hôtel Verneuil: Where to Stay on the Left Bank in Paris

No doubt, the hardest part of planning a trip to Paris is choosing your hotel. There’s no shortage of options, and you could spend hours combing through the listings. Here’s a time-saving recommendation for a Left Bank crash pad:  Hôtel Verneuil is excellently located on a quiet, elegant street (rue de Verneuil) just a stone’s throw from the Orsay museum and the Seine river. From this hideaway, you can easily walk to the city’s most famous sites (like the Louvre) or the trendy boutiques in St. Germain, not to mention the famous department store, Le Bon Marché.

The neighborhood itself is full of the ghosts of artists and writers. In fact, Serge Gainsbourg’s old house is just across the street. And Karl Lagerfeld lives around the corner.

Housed in a 17th century townhouse, the hotel offers 26 chic guest rooms with dark-wood furnishings, beamed ceilings, L’Occitane bath products, and lots of books for your reading enjoyment. A top-to-bottom renovation in 2012 ensured that each and every one of the accommodations has the latest lighting and technology. Bathed in natural light, the rooms are decorated like an elegant Parisian apartment.

Keep in mind that Parisian hotel rooms tend to be small, but Hôtel Verneuil’s accommodations are comfortable, well-arranged and full of character. There are four different room categories to choose from: Classic, Deluxe, Club, and Communicating. (Deluxe offer the most amount of space, while the Classic rooms are a cozy 12 square meters.) Amenities include L’Occitane bath products, free wifi, and LED flat-screen TVs.

As soon as you walk into the hotel, you get the sense that this is a welcoming place. A fire is lit in the elegant lounge, surrounded by book cases and comfortable seating where you can enjoy a drink from the bar. The staff are helpful and welcoming, creating a warm and happy vibe.

There is no restaurant, but a lovely breakfast buffet is served in the atmospheric vaulted cellar. You’ll find flaky croissants, artisanal coffee, charcuterie, salmon, cheese, teas by the famous Dammann Frères brand, farm-fresh yogurt, fruit, cereal and more. What a way to start the day! You can also order room service in the evenings.

With top-notch service and an ideal location, it’s no wonder that frequent visitors to Paris return year after year to Hôtel Verneuil .
