Welcome to our little corner of countryside paradise!
Take a much-needed escape to the west of France and choose from two traditionally rustic gîtes, equipped with all you need for your self-catering holiday. Benefit from private fishing lakes and even the welcome invitation to swim in them if you wish to cool off on those hotter days!
A pet-friendly stay for you and your family, this peaceful complex is set within 2.5 hectares of beautiful countryside in the Poitou-Charentes region of France.

Two spring-fed lakes set in mature gardens
The natural spring sources are also better for the angler, as our water levels never run low in extremely dry conditions. A waterfall takes excess water from the top, smaller lake into the larger bottom lake, keeping a constant gentle flow-through all year round, and helping with the oxygen levels in all weather conditions.
Our lakes are stocked with carp, tench, roach, bream, pike and zander. Fishing our lakes is free when you spend your holidays at La Germondière.
From float fishing to carp fishing – either lake will give you a good day’s catch.

Local amenities and activities
Even if you don’t fish there are plenty of spots around the lake where you can just sit back, relax and unwind from day-to-day life. Watch the birds, listen to the frogs, wait for the kingfisher, observe the variety of dragon and damselflies that are drawn to the water.
Or you can travel further afield. Despite its peaceful, rural ambience, the town of Secondigny is only 1.5km distance and has all the amenities you may require without having to stray too far. You’ll find the following here:

Some background on who we are: Simon & Julie
The camping life led us to the opportunity of working on UK campsites during the summer months and travelling in the winter. It was always amusing to think of the high pressured lives we’d left, with Simon’s tiling business, Julie’s corporate career and the big wages that went with it… whilst cleaning campsite toilets! But we absolutely loved it. We realised we were naturals at engaging with people, we are positive, enthusiastic and fun-loving people with a ‘live for today’ attitude and were very good campsite wardens- inspiration!
Why we love what we do
In October 2011, we came to France on the hunt for a campsite that needed to fulfil two criteria; it had to have either fishing lakes (preferable) or a stretch of river for fishing. Now several years on, the business has gone from strength to strength each year.
We now more than double the number of weeks we had in 2012, with more than half of the bookings being repeat customers. And it’s no wonder – the place is really beautiful, a little corner of paradise nestled amongst the apple orchards, yet not far to shops or tourist attractions. Even for those that don’t fish, the environment is peaceful, very ‘zen’ and packed with nature. We still find it hard to believe it’s our back garden(!)
