A South of France Escape: 4-Bed House, Medieval Village
Take the opportunity to stay in this beautifully renovated 200 year old property. It sits in the heart of the picturesque Languedoc, the famous wine producing region of South West France.
This area of the Languedoc is the sunniest region in the whole of France and offers 300 days of sunshine every year. You instantly relax when arriving in the Minervois where time seems to stand still, indeed the locals refer to it as ‘Midi Time’ after the beautiful Canal du Midi which offers tranquillity and a beauty like no other area in this unique area of South West France.
About the House
The entire house (Wi-Fi included) has undergone a very meticulous renovation, to the highest specification that includes a luxury fitted kitchen with all mod cons including a dishwasher, washing machine and induction hob. A ‘whisper’ ceiling fan is found in every room to support the extra circulation of a fresh breeze.
The owner has thoughtfully utilised a clever design where by the patio doors, leading out to the courtyard, slide into the wall to create a seamless inside/outside space – it really optimises the architectural style. This design has been heightened by the same use of flooring tiling in the kitchen and outside in the patio.
With 4 bedrooms for your group to choose from, all fitted with a clean furnished interior style, but decorated enough to make you feel as if you were at home… you can step away from the impersonal hotel setting and step into your southern holiday home.
Bedrooms 1, 3 and 4 have en-suite availability whilst bedroom 2 has full access to the large family shared-bathroom. Bedrooms 1, 2 and 4 include a double bed whilst bedroom 3 has 2 x adult single beds along with a 3rd small single bed – suitable for a child.
The Juliet balcony in bedroom 3 offers a lovely feature where if you want to see a clear view from the bedroom, you can open the patio doors to enjoy the view out onto the countryside and if you choose to have the shutters open you can also enjoy the morning sunrise.
For those sunny days when you want to make the most out of your stay in blessed weathers of the South France, the ‘courtyard’ garden has been spectacularly completed for your leisurely socials or intimate family gatherings. In the evenings you can turn on the fairy lights to set the mood whilst sipping on some wine and nibbling on a cheese board selected from the morning markets.
It also benefits from an electronic awning that creates shade at the flick of a switch and there is an outside shower in the courtyard to freshen you up, if you fancy catching some rays.
Things to Do
Pouzols Minervois has a local shop/ Cafe where you can buy fresh produce and supplies including your fresh croissants and baguette every morning, or just take in a morning coffee. Then at ‘wine o clock’ take in a beer or a cool glass of ‘vair du vin blanc’ from one of the local wine producing cave’s.
Indeed Pouzol Minervois even boasts its own Cave just 200m from the property, where it’s award winning wine is produced.
Cycle the famous Canal Du Midi, wine tasting en route or why not have a lazy day on one of the wonderful sandy beached of the Med just 35 min away, alternatively cross the Spanish border and pay visit to Barcelona, the capital of Catalonia.
If you are taking in an early spring break, have a day sunbathing in 25C temperatures then the next day why not take in some skiing in the Pyrenees. With so much to do in this wonderful area you are spoilt for choice. With a good bottle of wine costing just 5 Euro you will be stunningly surprised at how far your budget will stretch.
