Olives, herbs, sausages, cheese, meat and also the fresh vegetables that are a staple of Mediterranean cooking; tomatoes, courgettes, aubergines, onions, salads, beets etc, will leave you hungry after a visit and tempted to cook your own ratatouille. The flowers are also worth the detour and depending on the season you’ll be be able to buy sunflowers, lavender or mimosa with its delicate scent. Taking a rest from the busy market by sipping a class of rosé and nibbling on green olives and almonds at a café.
During your stay in Aix, you’ll get to know the small streets, maybe even get lost once or twice, but the statue of Cézanne at La Rotonde is never far away to set you straight. Many shops offer tempatations but the regular visitor will avoid the hustle and take advantage of the calm inside the museums in Aix. Musée Granet and its annex with the Planque collection is a must see for art lovers well as the Caumont Centre Art, where visitors can enjoy a Kir cocktail in the lovely closed garden after viewing the the current exposition.
Invite a study partner from class to do homework over a cappuccino at one of the cafés at Cours Mirabeau, Aix’s fabulous main street where fountains and statues surround the shops. Read an article in a French newspaper and together you’ll prepare a resumé for your classmates tomorrow. We promote a no pressure atmosphere, where learning French is fun and engaging
The nature loving student will make sure to take an afternoon for a hike or a walk at the St Victoire, famously painted by Cézanne multiple times, serving as his muse. And why not give pétanque a try while sipping a Pastis with the other students from school.
