Just steps from Monet’s house and gardens in the heart of picturesque Giverny , this hotel-restaurant is ideal for a meal before or after a visit. Chef Benjamin Revel cooks a menu signed by Michelin one-star chef David Gallienne, which changes seasonally and offers excellent value for money, especially the three-course €23 lunch menu.
The pleasant dining room, with its contemporary décor and bare oak tables, brings welcome gastronomic modernity to Giverny, too, with starters like a coddled egg with rocket, walnuts and Neufchâtel cheese; mains like sea bream marinated in leek oil with shellfish and mashed potatoes, or pork prepared like a pastille, the layered Moroccan savoury pastry dish, with pumpkin, hazelnuts and curcuma; and a Norman cheese plate, cheesecake with pumpkin and quince or a poached pear with chocolate sauce, sesame and whipped cream to finish the meal. Reservations strongly advised.
