French photographer, Jean-Christophe Ballot, and Parisian gallerist and art historian, Chris Boïcos, will discuss M. Ballot’s exhibition, Paris – Chicago: The Photography of Jean-Christophe Ballot, on view at Loyola University Museum of Art (LUMA) from June 13 through August 16, 2009. Our speakers will elucidate the old world/new world vision of one of France’s most prominent architectural photographers. We invite you to enjoy a glass of wine and view a selection of the artist’s photographs which will be exhibited at the Alliance the evening of the lecture.

Ballot celebrates the relationship between sister cities Chicago and Paris; juxtaposing formally similar photographs of the two cities creating a visually rich dialogue. In addition to exterior architectural images, Ballot includes images of statuary and interior spaces from the Musée Rodin and the sculptor’s studio in Paris. The Rodin Museum photographs will be exhibited along with Rodin sculptures in Rodin: In His Own Words – Selections from the Iris and B. Gerald Cantor Foundation, the most comprehensive private collection of works by Auguste Rodin in the world, in an adjourning LUMA gallery.
