Theatre in Paris: See Mozart’s Magic Flute with English Surtitles

This spring Theatre in Paris launched an innovative service for non-French speakers. Theatre lovers could enjoy performances of Cyrano de Bergerac with English surtitles: the text translation was projected on a large background screen above the stage. An international crowd of theatre-goers—from China, Russia, the U.S., Australia, the U.K. and beyond— flocked to the stage performances.

It was such a smashing success that Theatre in Paris is rolling out the service for The Magic Flute at the Théâtre des Variétés. Staged from June 26th until July 10th, the 15 surtitled performances combine music and theatre. The world-famous songs from Mozart’s opera will be combined with spoken scenes in a magnificent setting.

Dating from the early 19th century, the heritage-listed Théâtre des Variétés is a beautiful landmark on Boulevard Montmartre (also known as the Boulevard des théâtres because of the high concentration of such venues). Book tickets directly on the website: www.theatreinparis.com.

Tickets are priced from €44. Under 26 (limited availability) from €29. Groups (over five people) from €39.
