On the Left Bank, Valérie Maltaverne and Rémy Le Fur’s Ymer&Malta gallery, formerly in the 17th arrondissement, is now sharing space with contemporary art and photography dealer Bailly Contemporain in Saint Germain des Prés. Y&M’s own limited editions include designer Cédric Ragot’s clever porcelain Compose-It Vase, which seems to sit within a tubular steel picture frame like a 3-D still life; and his Hyper Fast chrome vase described as a “Ming archetype caught in a moment of digital acceleration”. Ragot’s Bone stool has a black or white marble or cement seat on a solid oak base. From Normal Studio, the Stoco wood coffee or side tables look like slices of black tree trunks, and the black wood Stripes cabinet morphs from transparent to opaque depending on the angle of view.
