Paris Couture Spring 2009
On Tuesday, Chanel’s Karl Lagerfeld presented his spring 2009 haute couture collection on the Rue Cambon—an almost entirely white collection, with brief forays into black and print. Lagerfeld had his models walk through a set made completely of white paper. 4,000 meters of white paper, to be exact.
Also on the runway on Tuesday: Givenchy
On Wednesday, Jean Paul Gaultier closed his spectacular show with the 51 year-old former supermodel Inès de la Fressange. Fressange, once a model for Mariane, the symbol of the French Republic, was not the only star to grace Gaultier’s runway. The French singer Helen Noguerra also modeled in the show. Gaultier, who always goes for the unusual, said he chose Noguerra “to prove there is an alternative to anorexic 14-year-olds.”
