Carla Bruni at L’Olympia

Carla Bruni at L’Olympia

Although she is perhaps better known as the 1990s supermodel who became the wife of ex-French president Nicolas Sarkozy (making her the former First Lady), Carla Bruni is also a singer-songwriter. Bruni released her fourth album, Little French Songs, in March last year and her velvety voice possesses a husky, almost broken quality, making it well-suited to its simple but pretty melodies.

Little French Songs showcases delicate pop, folk and traditional chanson Française sounds, ranging from ballads to more playful tunes, said to be penned between official engagements while at the Élysée Palace. Returning to Paris after a lengthy tour of Europe, Bruni is to perform at one of the City of Light’s most iconic venues. An ex-Première Dame appearing at the grande dame of Parisian concert halls? How fitting…

Carla Bruni at L’Olympia: March 11, 8 p.m. Tel: +33 8 92 68 33 68. Tickets: €38-€60
