Whether you’re looking for an adrenaline filled theme park where you can have fun with all your favourite characters, a water park with log flumes and breathtaking slides, or a more educational park where children can have fun whilst learning something new – France really does have it all!
There are many fabulous theme parks to discover during your stay but here are our top 5.
1. Puy du Fou
Visit Puy du Fou in the Vendée and step back in time to experience Vikings, Romans, medieval knights and birds of prey– to name just a few! Watch jousting and chariot racing in the amazing live actions shows that take place throughout the day, ending with the unmissable Cinéscénie night time show featuring over 1,200 local actors on a 23 hectare stage.
Puy du Fou was voted the best theme park in the world in 2012, and it’s easy to see why!
2. Disneyland Paris
No list of the top theme parks in France would be complete without mentioning Disneyland Paris. Situated just outside Paris, this is the only Disney Park in Europe and is perfect for the whole family. From meet and greets with your favourite Disney characters to adrenaline filled rides and stunt shows, there really is something for everyone across the two parks.
Disneyland Paris is easily accessible from the UK and is just two and a half hours from the Brittany Ferries port of Le Havre, and 3 hours from Caen.
Futuroscope, just outside Poitiers, is one of the biggest theme parks in France and is home to many different rides, shows and experiences all based around technology and multi-media. One of our favourite attractions here is Dances with Robots where you’re strapped on to the arm of a giant robot whilst it dances to music.
Don’t miss the stunning La Forge aux Etoiles evening show filled with visual, aquatic and pyrotechnic effects from the fabulous Cirque du Soleil.
This wonderful theme park in the Auvergne is an educational theme park completely themed around the specialty of the region – volcanos! Vulcania makes learning fun with a range of experiences on offer for guests including 5D cinemas, interactive exhibitions, scientific theatre, and a hot air balloon to name but a few – all with stunning views over the Chaîne des Puys.
Just 20 minutes from Clermont-Ferrand.
5. Aqualand – Bassin d’Arcachon
Aqualand waterpark in Arcachon has something for the whole family to enjoy, from lazy rivers and children’s splash pools to the adrenaline-filled “Black Hole”, a thrilling waterslide in complete darkness.
There are several Aqualand sites throughout southern France so be sure to check the website to find the one nearest to you.
