Nature, Peace and Quiet…Welcome to Domaine de la Bergerie.
Between The Sea and The Mountains.
Welcome to our beautiful campsite, situated in a 700 hectare forest, with exiting entertainment.
Nestled at the heart of the French Riviera, our campsite is the perfect starting point to visit Vence, Saint Paul de Vence, Nice, Grasse, Cannes, Monaco, and Saint Tropez… But also the nature of our surrounding country: the “Gorges du Loup” and “the Gorges du Verdon.” On top of this, the National Park of Mercantour and its Alpha-park with wolf enclosure is close by.
At the foot of the Vence Mountains, called “les Baous” by the locals, and the Vence Pass, in a Mediterranean wood, you are free to choose the pitch that best suits you, among the oak or pine trees, between the birds and squirrels.
Vence is a historic city founded by the Romans, and a popular health resort for people all around the world. Sights worth seeing include the cathedral (the smallest in France, which dates back to the 10th and 11th centuries); the narrow and typically Provencal streets, the fountains, the craftsmen and artists, the 16th century castle (now a very interesting modern art gallery), the Matisse Chapel… The list goes on!
Matisse came in Vence to avoid the bombing in Nice during the War, and lived in Villa Le Rêve. Charmed by the way of life in the Riviera, Matisse conceived his masterpiece: the Rosary Chapel here!
In 2016 a new space for the chapel, the Rosary Chapel opened. It offers the visitors a library, a gallery showing the making of the chapel by exposing sketches and models and an amazing view of the beautiful roof.
The chapel is a place of worship for the Dominican nuns, so the sisters welcome you and aid your discovery of this enchanting place.
Opening hours: Monday – Wednesday – Saturday: 2 to 5.30 pm; Tuesday and Thursday: 10 to 11.30 am and from 2 to 5.30 pm.
