Editor’s App Choice: Visit 47

With an increasing number of Francophiles using their tablets and smartphones as an integral part of planning travel for trips to France, it’s great to see that plenty of local tourist boards are creating bespoke applications which provide handy and detailed, on-the-ground information.

Titled after the département number of the Lot-et-Garonne, Aquitaine, Visit 47 is a new guide which you download just the once and then browse for sites of interest, Bastide towns, rivers and nature trails, museums, parks and fine foods. For each tour you can check prices and opening hours, and also access audio commentaries and videos.

An attractive gallery function adds visual clout, while every single tourist office in the département is listed and visible via Google Maps (Wi-Fi required).
