Where to Stay Near Paris-Charles de Gaulle Airport

We chose Château de la Tour in Gouvieux for our last luxurious night in France because of the beautiful and tranquil setting and its close proximity to Charles de Gaulle airport where we would catch our flight home the next morning. The main château and complimentary annex, in an Anglo-Normand style architecture, create a commanding presence as you approach the château entrance. The 12-acre parkland stretches out below the back terrace of the building and can be appreciated from many of the south-facing rooms.

There are 15 historic rooms of charm in the château and 26 more contemporary rooms in the annex. Our first floor room with balcony in the château was spacious and comfortable with old-world charm. We were there in late spring and had great weather to enjoy the grounds and soak up the sunshine. Besides ample outdoor seating areas, there is a fitness trail, a heated swimming pool and tennis courts.

Inside, you will find a bar area and numerous spacious salons to relax in. We dined on the terrace of the hotel’s Michelin recommended restaurant, Les Bois Gourmands. With a view on the park and the lingering warmth of dusk, it was a fitting finale to our stay in France. The prix-fixe meal was delicious, beginning with the amuse bouche, followed by a choice of entrée, main plate and dessert. All that we ordered was delicious, including fois gras, roasted sea bass and apricot tarte tatin. Other choices were also offered.

As an early 19th century home, the property was turned into a hotel-restaurant in 1946. The Jadis family purchased the property in 1972, renovated it and re-opened in 1974. Now under the direction of the eldest daughter, the hotel was recently upgraded to continue offering guests a congenial and convivial atmosphere. Special holiday packages and themes are periodically offered, and it’s possible to schedule family events on the premises. For those who have extra time, the stunning Château de Chantilly is located just three kilometers away and is worthy of a visit.
